Ember had gone hunting on her own, not a rare thing but one she normally did. After all, she was a adult though a very young one. Besides...her brother was probably stalking her in the tall grass. Rolling her pale blue eyes, she tried to ignore the possibility of her brother sneaking about somewhere nearby. She hoped though that he really wasn't, the male should honestly get his own life. They weren't pups anymore, when they were it was fine and fun. But that was due to the fact she didn't know anything yet. Now...it was just annoying and patience crushing. Pushing her brother from her mind, she took careful and quiet steps. Ears twitched to the sound of the wind blowing and rustling the grass, her nose twitched as she sniffed the air for any animals about.
So far nothing and that caused her to sigh mentally, though she started to move along once more. Taking a few pauses here and there to see if anything was about. A few minutes went by like this until something hit her black nose, causing her to stay still as it twitched a few more times. Rabbit! Probably not a fully grown one but it would do fine enough. Crouching down, she inched closer before lunging at the small creature. Her fangs grabbing it by the neck and landing on her paws, she applied a little more pressure to end it. Unknown to her she now had someone else near.

Donovun had decided to take a few moments for himself, not an uncommon thing for the alpha, particularly during his younger days as a hunter. And by younger, he of course meant only a few months before. Sitting among the tall grass of the plains, the wolf let out a long, rather drawn out, yawn, simply keeping to himself and considering the main issues of importance. The fact that it was spring now, and that meant hunting would be good once more, and now they'd need to work towards reestablishing the pack's territory. That and the ever-looming issue of the Council of Stars, and their frequent attempts to usurp his earned authority as alpha.
It wasn't until he noticed another walking through the grass that the Moonheart removed himself from these thoughts. One of the dogs, she came into adulthood recently, and he even remembered playing with Ember on some occasions before he became an alpha, and she took up a position as hunter.
Watching the canine as she moved through the grass, she took notice of the rabbit moments before he had. Donovun admired the technique in her approach to the animal, and appreciated how she went for much more subtle and difficult to notice, while due to his own size, Donovun would have had to simply make it come down to a chase, relying on his speed and strength to catch the animal.
As she made her kill, the wolf stood up, and approached Ember, clearing his throat before remarking, "A skillful kill."

To her surprise, she heard someone clear their throat and then a very familiar voice came to her ears. Her ears perked as she raised her head up, pale blue eyes turning their gaze to the much larger wolf. Sitting down, she placed the rabbit down, and lowered her head in respect.
"Thank you, Moonheart Donovun." Ember spoke sincerely before raising her head. "I owe it to those of the pack that helped train me."
She remembered playing with Donovun when they were both younger, that meant Colbat had as well since he was always looming over her and playing with her as well. She never viewed Donovun badly and he became alpha she accepted it. After all, it was the young male's birthright. His mother was alpha and thus that made him a likely candidate to take over, though she was a bit surprised that he challenged his own mother so soon. But everyone did things differently, Donovun probably saw himself ready and capable.
"I wasn't expecting company well..sort of....what I mean is, if anyone was to show up I thought it be Colbat, ya know?" Ember started though she silenced herself for a moment. "Sorry, rambling."

With a chuckle, Donovun shook his head at the younger canine and her sudden formality. "No titles, they make my hair stand on end." Never having really been fond of that part of the deal, that came with the privilege of high-standing within the pack. Be it not for a consistently unanimous decision from the council of stars, the alpha would have had the old, and useless, practice abandoned when he rose to the position himself.
With a yawn of boredom, Donovun sat on his haunches and quickly scratched one ear, a rather casual action, and one that would have certainly appalled his mother had the wolf seen how her son was behaving openly. "Neither was I, but I am more than welcoming of it." In response to her explanation, but when she brought up Cobalt, the elder canine could not hold back the rolling of his eyes. "Ah yes, Cobalt, I remember him." Letting out another drawn out yawn, cutting her apology short.
"Well I have nothing else to do, would you like to join me?" Offering for Ember to spend some free time with him, possibly making it at least a slightly more active afternoon, considering the fact that he had no intentions of doing much, beyond thinking and sleeping.

"Very well, Donovun." Ember agreed with a kind smile.
Getting a title was often the result of a high position. Each was different, course each pack did things differently. Oh well, just how it went. The yawn from the alpha did cause her years twitched and she found it obvious. She was boring him. Well kind of expected since he was the alpha and she was simple a hunter, not like she'd be entertaining with her apologies or nothing. Seeing him roll his eyes at her brother's mentioning, she laughed.
"Yes." Ember said with her laugh. "Sure, I would be honored to."
When she accepted his offer to spend time with him, Ember had lost all trace of her laugh. Showing was sincere on the matter despite the humor just a few moments ago.
"So how is your day?" Ember asked curiously.

"Honoured." The wolf muttered to himself with a chuckle, as he layed on one side, among the tall grass. With another drawn out yawn, the Alpha then apologized, "I'm sorry, I played too much with the pups before coming here, fatigue may be setting in."
As he lay among the soft blades, the wind blew at Donovun's fur, tickling him slightly. "It was fine, hunting seemed a bit slow, but I'm sure you know about that." Thinking about his own less than successful search that day. He'd put forth enough to give his share, and have some for himself, but it was still a difficult day.

Ember remained sitting, honestly she wasn't sure why Donovun found that somewhat funny but she wasn't about to question it. His humor was no doubt different. Course hearing his words on having been playing with the pups earlier and a result of fatigue, she couldn't help but smile.
"Ah yes, pups will do that to you." Ember said. "Kind of drives away some form having any."
It did that to some, some dogs or wolves just didn't have the patience for it. Ember wasn't sure if she would but that didn't stop her form wanting them. They were all so cute, energetic and at times.... funny; due to their antics. She had been one of the energetic ones. Drove her parents bonkers.
"Well Spring is just starting, some animals are being picky about coming out." Ember spoke. "That and they're being careful, they want to live a little longer into Spring."
