we all hide behind masks
The beauty of New Earth was something to be cherished. Even though radiation had tainted it so badly after the Third World War, and humanity had still caused the wounds on it's skin, the Earth had mostly healed from their deadly touch. The rain was coming more frequent, and making the world beautifully green once again. He could only guess that the atmosphere was slowly healing, though how, Mikahel was unsure.
Being stuck in a mortal form was rather annoying. He never knew what was going on with New Earth. He was pretty sure when he had been immortal, as a demi-god, his powers had allowed him to sense the world around him much easier. Though he wasn't sure if that was the truth, he sometimes felt so in tune with the wind and waves when he just stood here like this, that Mikahel swore he had retained some of that power from his previous life.
As he slowly walked along the white sand of Silver Beach, the scent of the ocean played with his nose. His nostrils flared, the salt tang in the air bit through the crisp underlying smell of just the pure water. The sand beneath his paws pressed in between his pads, and felt warm and soft. He felt that uncontrollable urge to run that he usually got when he went to the beach and stepped on the sand. Something about it's looseness and freedom of movement, something about the way it felt in between his toes and pads... he didn't even know what this innate desire was, but something tugged at his body, pulling him and telling him to move faster.
He fought it though. It was hot today, at least for spring and his thick, dark fur made even just walking out in full on sun, a chore. But he was here because he needed to get away from the pack for a few moments. Just to think. He loved the pack, they were everything to him and all he cared about, but sometimes it was impossible to think around all the other wolves. Especially during spring when all the pups were being born on a more consistent basis.
Mikahel smiled as he thought of the tiny squirming bundles of fur that were supposed to be wolves but reminded him more of large, squealing hamsters when they were born. Such beautiful little creatures, he sighed and continued with his walk, not even realizing he had stopped.
